Transfers to our Chalet Cookery School

Getting to the course…

We will provide transfers to and from Geneva airport on the Saturday the course starts and finishes. You must arrive at Geneva in the afternoon, if you arrive early you will have to wait. Please do not arrive any later than 15.30 unless agreed with the course organisers. On the departure day you must book flights departing no earlier than 14.30, any later and you will have to wait. We aim to get to Geneva at midday. NB: If your flight is delayed we cannot wait later than 17.30 so you may be required to get a taxi and claim via your insurance (taxi is approx. 600 euros) hence it is imperative you arrange Travel Insurance. You will also need Insurance which covers white-water rafting (May-Sept courses only). If you haven´t booked flights when completing the Booking Form, please let us know flight details when confirmed.

Important Notes…

Baggage Allowance with most carriers is 20kgs per person with 10kg for hand luggage, Ryanair only allow 15kg and 5kg hand luggage. Some carriers like Ryanair and Easyjet charge for luggage in the hold. Airports are very busy places, please check in at least three hours before your flight. DON´T FORGET YOUR VALID PASSPORT! (If you are not a UK passport holder please check your visa status).

Train to the Alps…

Bourg St Maurice train station is just 25 minutes away. If anyone attending the course is in Europe and fancies taking the train to the Alps we will happily collect you from the train station in the afternoon.

Driving to the Alps…

Should you prefer to drive to the Alps, the cost of a car with four passengers averages about £80 per head for a round trip to the Tarentaise Valley if you live within 200 miles of Dover. The journey should take you no longer than nine hours from Calais. There are a number of different ways to cross the channel which includes the Channel Tunnel which takes approximately 35 minutes, a speed ferry (which can be the most cost effective) which gets you across in 50 minutes or a standard car ferry which normally takes around 90 minutes. Aim for a ferry departure from UK at around 0800 hrs. You should then arrive at the chalet between 1800 and 1900hrs. The route is easily navigated and follows autoroutes for 95% of the journey.
